Well hello, fabulous Evan Upchurch. If you don’t already know this superstar, you must. Today is her birthday and we are all about celebrating HER!

Beauty isn’t the only thing this editorial babe has in the bag. A trilingual Sorbonne graduate, she is a writer for Travesías Media. Brilliant and bright, we can’t wait to know more! So we caught up with her on the beautiful beaches of Grand Velas in Nayarit to get the scoop.

On this glorious birthday, our travel darling will be turning 24! Bold in black, popping against the gorgeous interiors of the presidential suite at the Grand Velas Resort, she looks ready to celebrate!

Talking with Evan, we were captivated by her inspiration in Mexico, her love for the country and many of its unparalleled locations. From beach escapes, like Nayarit and Sayulita, to city vibes like Mexico City and Oaxaca.

As Murakami says, a writer must dream while awake and that’s what we strive to do – discover in the waking moment the surreal truth that is the now. Gazing into the depth of her eyes, we know exactly what that means!

Outside in the summer sun, the day is ours. It’s time for the next adventure! Cerulean skies highlight the shimmering blue sea, beckoning us to come out and play.

“The timeless in you is aware of life’s timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today’s memory and tomorrow is today’s dream.” Evan shared a few of her favorite authors, including Khalil Gibran. Enchanted by our own living dream, we dash out into the shining afternoon light to soak it all up.

“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair”, Gibran writes. Certainly, it’s true. And how we delight in feeling the gentle breezes and sand between our toes!

A window’s reflection highlights gorgeous Evan’s face and we are captivated. We might be in love! “Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”

And just like that we flow to the next location: spectacular Sayulita! Fun-loving and free, Evan is an excellent expression of the philosophies that she holds dear. Eloquent and enlightened we can’t wait to hear what else Evan has to share with us.

We can also read her witty wordsmithery in a bi-weekly English newsletter about Mexico and Mexico City called The Mexico Journal! So when you’re not reading Travesias you can check out her latest work there.

As Huxley, says, “It’s dark because you are trying too hard.
Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly.
Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply.
Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. “

As parting advice we are reminded …“It isn’t a matter of forgetting. What one has to learn is how to remember and yet be free of the past.”  Evan, you beautiful spirit, we shall remember you with love until we see her again.
