Passion is destiny – An interview with Dominique Debay

I sell with my heart. I am passionate about what I do and I can only sell what I believe in.

— Dominique Debay

We’re so happy and honored to feature the gorgeous Dominique Debay, who is without a doubt one of the hardest-working, most-beloved hotel representatives in the luxury travel industry!1Dominique graduated from a business school in Paris and worked in the fashion industry for a year. Then, she decided that she wanted to work abroad . Her first offer was in Abu Dhabi as Director of a French Supermarket; after which she became Director of Catering for Accor Hotel Abu Dhabi . After 3 years in Abu Dhabi, Dominique moved to Los Angeles and worked for Air France as a sales representative – that is how she started to work in the US market. After Air France, Dominique became the Director of Sales for the Americas for the Hotel Bristol in Paris; a position she occupied for 6 years. After that, Dominique opened the office of GLA hotels in NYC and worked for Grace Leo until 2009, when she founded her own representation company: Dominique Debay Hotels & Resorts.2Dominique’s company promotes the hotels (such as the stunning Das Stue Berlin, pictured above) in their collection by doing sales calls in the best agencies in the Americas from Canada to Brazil, focusing on the US markets; as well as e-mailing, webinars. etc. We asked Dominique to give us a glimpse of the activities developed by her company. We organize roadshows from city to city – sales calls, lunches, cocktails); we have stands in all the international trade shows such as ILTM Cannes, ILTM Americas, PURE, Travelweek Sao Paulo, LE Miami; and promote the members of our collection. We also participate in Virtuoso Travel Week, in the Signature Travel Network, Classic Vacations, Island Destinations, Leading Hotels etc. When our hotels require it, we help them create rates, special offers, marketing tools, etcetera… Phew! That sounds busy…Things can – and do – definitely get pretty hectic for Dominique and her team. But for them, it’s a passion…(Below: rapturous sunset captured at Le Christopher St. Barth, another gorgeous and exclusive luxury hotel represented by Dominique.)3I have a passion for travel and hotels so I never feel I had a choice, it was my destiny!, says Dominique. This is exactly why she is so successful in her line of work, and it’s also the reason why her clients and peers love her – she’s a source of inspiration and an example that, when you work hard in something you love, you get beautiful results! Thanks so much for your time and ideas, Dominique – we can’t wait to see you again.
